The engine room integrated alarm and control system consists of three main components: sensors, acquisition hardware, and software. First, numerous physical parameters such as temperature, pressure, and switch states are collected via sensors, then transmitted remotely to the engine control room. The data is sampled by acquisition hardware, with different hardware units connected to the host computer via a fieldbus. When abnormal changes occur in these physical parameters, the system immediately generates audible and visual alarms, while clearly displaying the specific alarm location and channel number, enabling shipboard personnel to respond promptly and ensure safe vessel operation.
As vessel automation levels continue to increase, the alarm system monitors and controls hundreds or thousands of data points. The system establishes a detailed historical database and provides intelligent alarm status determination and other advanced functions. Additionally, the historical database allows for data traceability and historical state reconstruction.
